Slick Rick brings 1988 hit "Children's Story" to life in new children's book
80's hip-hop rapper Slick Rick is getting his 1988 hit "Children's Story" transformed into a physical children's book.
Music collective Get On Down have teamed up with Def Jam to produce the 18-page full colour publication. Slick's 80's classic is a warning for children, telling the tale of two kids who begin a life of crime - robbing to be exact. The track ends in tragedy, with one of the kids being fatally shot by an undercover DT who he had previously robbed, but this was arguably necessary to ensure kids desisted from crime; teaching kids to stay on the right side of the law.
The physical publication will become a visual representation of this, and is set to feature detailed illustrations interpreting the lyrics and the music video; a picture sleeve 45 with “Children’s Story” and “The Moment I Feared”; a CD of The Great Adventures of Slick Rick; and an original 12" artwork taken from the "Children's Story" video.

The exclusive bundle will be available to purchase on April 22nd, AKA Record Store Day, to coincide with a re-release of Slick Rick's debut album, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick.
