The game, soundtracked by their latest single release "3WW", immerses the player in a pixelated 3D world surrounded by fragmented textures, eery mazes and low-res streetscapes.

When exploring the portal, you stumble across characters and objects that bring up short snippets and images of the band working on the new record around the studio. References to the band are also made apparent via posters advertising the album, which is due to be released 2nd June.

Fans of the band and video game fanatics have already made the comparison to the 1998 Playstation game: LSD:Dream Emulator. However a link is provided within the game to pay a homage to the simulator, which displays a trivial window into the effects of what a jacked-up acid-trip feels like.

The band wrote on their Facebook page "Here's something Team alt-J have been working on for a while. We are proud to introduce the new http://altjband.com. You might find you get lost in it... As it evolves, there will be more for you to find. But for now, be like that wayward lad, step out and start exploring."
