Critter & Guitari's ETC Video Synthesizer turning audio into visual

Visionary musical instrument-makers, Critter & Guitari, have added another string to their bow with the addition of a new revolutionary piece of equipment to add to their collection: the ETC Video Synthesizer.

The Brooklyn-based company is known for producing all sorts of innovative pieces, such as the versatile Pocket Piano, the portable Terz Amplifier, and the resourceful Organelle. But their latest product, the ETC, will convert your audio into a live display of stunning visuals.

Similar to the Video Scope and the Black & White Video Scope, which produces oscilloscope-style wave-forms onto your television or projector, the ETC creates a series of patterns and graphics based on the sounds produced from your instrument, but instead makes no sound and instead relies solely on the visual element - perfect for music videos or live visual displays.

The ETC features numerous 'Modes' that generate the patterns you see on screen, which you can tweak and change the appearance of using a set of four knobs; each knob generates a different pattern, from "smooth undulating patterns" to "rapid fire animations". You can even switch up the background colour of your audio-generated patterns, as well as allow the on-screen graphics to generate "vibrant collages".

The ETC Video Synthesizer is retailing at $495.00.
