Gorillaz release video for "Humility"

Gorillaz release video for "Humility"

Only a year after Gorillaz' feature-laden fifth album Humanz was released, we're given a sixth - The Now Now, released later this month - and a new video for the album's first single, "Humility", with Jamie Hewlett's characters animated by The Line's Tim McCourt and Max Taylor.

Directed by Evan Silver, the video was shot at Venice Beach, with McCourt and Taylor's excellent animation bringing the band characters to life; 2D opens, joyfully rollerskating through Venice's celebrated boardwalk while the other band members hang out with the locals - including Murdoc's 'temporary replacement', the equally green Ace, casually ruining a game of hoops.

Jack Black also makes a cameo appearance, popping up throughout, making for an altogether simpler and sunnier, and more commercially-minded iteration of the most successful virtual act. Certainly a kinder one for the usually hapless 2D, until drummer Russel puts a sudden, surprisingly spiteful end to 2D's skate fun.
